When I began my venture into getting re-involved with the Fell Pony Breed, I chose the name Sirensong in keeping with our families Naval ties. My Father-In-Law and my Grandfather both served in the Navy, as well as a few other family members.
The Siren being another name for the beautiful irresistible singing mermaids that called sailors into the sea.
I was moving forward on my own at that time. Since then I have gotten involvement from family and we decided to 'rebrand' a bit.
It took some time bouncing around ideas between everyone, but we finally came to the name Stonedragon. The name seemed to come out of thin air on a small road trip, but it fit us perfectly.
Our Family farm is located in the hilly region outside of McAlester, OK. We have many large rocks, boulders, and stones seemingly growing out of the ground here.
And I can remember the story of my favorite Fell pony Stallion getting to his home at Stonecreek Farm. How when they opened the trailer in the cool early morning fog. Goytvalley Magic Minstrel had stepped out of the trailer and his breath was visible as he breathed in the surroundings.
I remember Karen's words, comparing him to a dragon, wondering what they had gotten themselves into briefly before getting him settled into his new home.
That story has stuck with me, and I am glad to have that wonderful stallion's granddaughter here with me. Stonecreek Bronte was our first Fell Pony here at the farm, and I am so glad to have her here.
